Career Assessment and Brief Counseling
How Can Career Assessment Help Me?
Career assessment can help you to identify aspects of your personality and domains of interest in the career field to narrow down career options and find a career that will bring you joy and satisfaction. Whether you are just embarking on your career exploration journey, are exploring a major in college, or are looking to transition to another career, career testing can help you make a more informed decision. Testing can be done either in-person or virtually.
What to Expect
Step 1: Initial Phone Call
The process starts with a free 15-minute phone call with us to determine what information you are looking for and to discuss logistics.
Step 2: Career Interview
If we agree to meet for testing, we would then schedule a 50-minute interview when we would gather information about your career background and goals.
Step 3: Testing
After the interview, your provider will send you different test measures to take on your own time. These tests typically focus on gathering information about your personality strengths, likes/dislikes, and areas of interest, and then bring this data together quickly and coherently to paint a picture of what kinds of careers might be a good fit for you to explore.
Step 4: Brief Career Counseling
After the testing phase is completed, you will meet with your provider for 1-2 sessions of brief career counseling to review the results of testing, discuss how this data can be used to assist you in exploring your career path, and for your provider to share resources for the next steps of career exploration.
